When NASCAR went through their big growth spurt in the 1990s and early 2000s, many felt like they dd so at the expense of the little guy…growing to the point that the only way to be successful was to be one of the big, big guys.

So far this year, we’ve seen two of NASCAR’s bold new steps go for a second spin.   COTA and the Bristol Dirt Race.  Both had better weather than a year ago, and both ended up with the leaders wrecking near the end of the last lap.

This week we hit the 1/3 post of the regular season.  How much did we think we’d know about the new car by now?

Seven winners in seven races.  Could this be the year that we get more than 16 winners in the first 26 races and a winner misses the playoffs?
