It's always interesting to see how things play out when friends get mad at each other.  Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have been pretty entertaining since Saturday night.  It will be interesting to see where things go the next few weeks.

Of course, it could lead to a dead end.  NASCAR's Steve O'Donnell said that, if the drivers haven't already talked, they'll make sure they do before they get on the track at Chicagoland.

Why?

This is the personality that fans want to see.  And, frankly, there's not enough of it anymore.  The motorhome lots have turned the drivers and their families into neighbors.  Feuds only last long enough to walk next door to borrow a cup of sugar.

Cell phones allow drivers to call one another anytime, anywhere.  One week after words are exchanged, the first question from the media is, "have you talked yet?"

Why?

I guarantee Richard Petty and David Pearson didn't take time to make a long distance call to talk things out during the week.  Nor did Cale Yarborough and the Allisons after the '79 Daytona 500.

So, let it simmer or even boil.  Didn't Matt Kenseth make last year's Chase more interesting?
