I understand that we're only a couple of races into the new year, and, to quote investing ads, "past performance does not guarantee future success".  But, I couldn't be happier to see the success that Martin Truex, Jr. is having.

Here's a good guy who has been through some pretty challenging times both personally and professionally the last year-and-a-half

In 2012 and 2013, Truex, Jr. had his best two years in Cup and was a consistent threat to finish in the top 10.  Then it all caved in; through no fault of his own.  He was fortunate to land a solid full-time ride with Furniture Row, but the results didn't follow as he registered only five top 10s all year.  And, then, during the season, his girlfriend, Sherry Pollex was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

As the new season begins, Sherry seems to be doing well, and Martin has started this season with back-to-back top 10s.  There's plenty of optimism to go around.

It's good to see Martin Truex, Jr. smiling again on and off the track.
