The times they are a-changing.

Seats are filled in the Cup Series, but a number of Xfinity and Truck seats remain open.

And, it sure seems like there are a lot of sponsorship announcements coming out for it being the early part of January.

I don’t think that has anything to do with NASCAR in particular, I think it has to do with the economy and the way businesses are doing business these days.

Gone are the days when driver and sponsor announcements for the next season were done by mid-September.  Much like the season-long, single sponsor on a car.

As long as the quarter-panels are being filled…and not at a last-minute discounts.  It doesn’t really matter when the deals are getting done.

It just goes along with the one adage that has been a constant in all my years covering this sport: the one thing you can count on is change.
