He was thinking about getting away for a few days and relaxing. And, why shouldn’t he?
The Elliott family has been skiers/snowboarders for years. For many, skiing or snowboarding may be considered a dangerous pastime, for the Elliotts, it’s recreation and relaxation. It’s certainly safer than his full-time job.
You can’t put these guys in bubble-wrap and tell them to sit around the house and do nothing all week. They have to live their lives. And, even just doing that is no guarantee they won’t suffer an injury that will sideline them from the race car for weeks. I broke an ankle this past November carrying our dog down the stairs.
Yes, the dog is fine. I couldn’t drive for six weeks.
Tony Stewart used to call driving in other racing series his golf game. The difference between them and a lot of us is: if they get hurt during their “golf game”, they can’t work from home until they get better.
