I've now watched another year of Championship Week activity and I am still left with one wish: finish the season in Las Vegas and have the banquet on, say, Wednesday.

The periphery activities are fun and all, but, like the NBA's Slam Dunk competition, will wear thin pretty quickly. If you want the fun and games, have them on Monday and Tuesday afternoon; before the Truck and Xfinity banquets.

How much time do folks really need to get things together for the awards? Under the current format, it's going to be one of four people. And, if you have the finale in Las Vegas too, the crews are already there.

These guys spend enough time on the road each year. I've got to believe that they wouldn't mind spending a couple of extra days in Sin City rather than having to board another plane and fly back across the country. Oh, and give up another weekend.
